Scope and ContentMinute books of the Cork Market Trustees, and folder of enclosures containing draft minutes of same.
The original Cork Corn Market building was constructed in 1719, in what would become the 'Coal Quay' area. This was replaced in 1740s by the current building which is reputed to be the work of Italian architect Allesandro Callileo. In the 1840s, the building was remodelled, and it reopened in 1843 as a Cork Corporation bazaar. In 1843 the Corn Exchange building opened on Albert Quay, which, in c1890-1903, was purchased by Cork Corporation for use as the City Hall.
