Scope and ContentHealth and Public Assistance functions. The collection consists of minutes of the West Cork Board of Public Asssitance. It is comprised of a series of volumes of minutes 1924-42 (CBPA/WE/M).
These records are succeeded by a series of managers' orders 1942-60 (CC/PA/WE/MO), and a single volume Record of Business transacted by the Assistant County Manager for West Cork Sep 1942-Nov 1943 (CC/WE/PA/RB).
A single volume containing minutes of the West Cork Public Health and Assistance Committee 1944-47 (CC/WE/PHA/M) is effectively a continuation of the main series of minutes of the West Cork Board of Public Assistance (CBPA/WE/M) and the Western Committee of the Cork County Board of Public Health (CBPH/WE/M).
These records were created following the legislative and administrative changes which came into effect in Sep 1942 [see Administrative History] and are therefore part of the Cork County Council West Cork sub-fonds (CC/WE)

Dispensaries and Dispensary Districts within the west Cork area included Ballineen, Ballydehob, Bantry, Cahermore, Castletown, Clonakilty, Coolmountain, Drimoleague, Dunmanway, Durrus, Eyeries, Glengarriff, Goleen, Kealkil, Kilcatherine, Rosscarbery, Schull, Skibbereen, Timoleague, Tullagh, and Union Hall.
