Scope and ContentDeeds relating to properties on Carey's Lane, French Church Street, and Paul Street, in the civil parish of St Paul's, Cork, and related properties. Most of the properties were used as commercial premises, including shop and stores used by Newsoms, merchants [SM50/6 and others]; a warehouse used by Charles Bianconi [SM50/10]; and premises used by TW Murray, gunmaker and gunpowder merchant [SM50/19]. Also present is an 1843 lease of the old French Church itself to the Primitive Wesleyan Methodist Society [SM50/11]. Several deeds include sketch maps, and most describe neighbouring holdings. They shed much light on the changing occupancy and use of buildings in the heart of the city in the late 18th and 19th centuries.
