Scope and ContentSeries consisting mainly of plans of vessels, including a large set of small plans and 'ships' particulars'. Also present are drawings relating to Company premises in Cork, and two photographs of vessels, the 'Dodo' (1855) and the 'Cormorant' (1853).
U370/H/001 is a set of forms and profile sketches on vessels and their technical details and capacities, evidently assembled around 1950-51. Sales, names changes, and breakage/loss are generally recorded, adding to the value of these records, which document 92 vessels.
U370/H/002-037 are engineering plans, sections, and elevations of vessles, generally drawn up by shipping engineering and construction firms, although some are by the Company's Works department. Many relate to Company vessels (eg, Bandon, Innicscarra, Innisfallen), but others are of unnamed vessels, and some may document vessels never purchased or constructed. 1888-1924.
U370/H/038-042 are plans, elevations and maps relating to Company premises at Patrick's Quay and Penrose Quay, Cork. 1897-1905 [1918]
U370/H/043 is a file of drawings regarding alterations to the vessel Glengarriff, c1900-1918
U370/H/044-045 are photographs of the vessels 'Dodo' and 'Cormorant', with attached notes on each vessel's history.
The series provides much information on Company vessels and their capacities, and adds a visual and technical perspective which enhances the overall collection.
