Scóp agus InneacharDeed of renewal dated 1 March 1837 between Abraham Jones, timber merchant, Cork, and William Howell Esq, Glanmire, (1st part), and William Hill, builder, Cork (2nd part), relating to 'a lot of building ground' on St Patrick's Hill. Recited is a deed of release of 11 June 1830 by which the ground, on which Hill had built a dwelling house, was granted to Hill by Jones and Howell under a lease for three lives, at an annual rent of £12 sterling, with a covenant for perpetual renewal. The present deed witnesses that Thomas Hill, son of William, is inserted as one of the three lives in place of Joshua Jackson, deceased, on foot of payment of renewal fine of £6. The ground granted is 24 feet and 6 inches wide in front, with a depth of 6 feet six inches. It includes 'two vaults or arches' under St Patrick's Hill in front of the ground concerned, but does not include vaults under the ground itself, which are reserved by Jones and Howell, along with a window aperture in the basement of Hill's dwelling house which gives light to these vaults. The ground is adjacent to Jones's timber yard and another dwelling house built by Hill. The covenant of perpetual renewal and rental terms are reiterated. The deed is signed and the wax seals of Jones, Howell, and Hill are present.
