Scóp agus Inneachar(1) Photocopy of TS. transcript of MS. letter written by Dan Quinlan, New York, [formerly of Kilbrogan, near Bandon, County Cork], to 'Dear Humphry'. Describes chartering a schooner for the West Indies and contracting yellow fever; eventually arriving in New York via Charlestown and Baltimore where he is quite content. Expresses concern at his brother James not apprenticed to a genteel trade in Cork; "Dan Sullivan fled this place . . .McCormick died in Charlestown, Tommy Moore died in Baltimore, John Croneen of Barrett's Hill was in New York. . .. Hosford kept a large store in the island of Bermuda. Sweeney died of Yellow fever.'' Enquires if Mr. Stokes' papers have come from Lisbon [ordination papers]. Enquires about the Watergate Building. Wishes to thank Sammy Jervois and Cathy Hurley and Tom Duke. Note, 'Copy of original hand-written letter in the possession of Mrs. B McGrath, 235 Blackrock Ave., Dublin 7.
