Scóp agus InneacharMS. wages account book entitled 'John Carey's Acct Book... Labourers', for an estate or landholding near Fermoy, County Cork. "Workmens Accompt- Book... For The Use of Gentlemen, Farmers, Stewards, &c." Printed Dublin by John Jones No.111 Grafton Street, 'opposite the College'.
MS. records of workmen's names, days/hours worked, daily wages, total value of week's work, observations such as 'John Leamy, £1.1s week, Gathering dung Monday, plowing Friday, went to Ballyknock Saturday to sell hay".
The estate concerned appears to be near Ballyknock (Kinnatalloon Barony, Ballynoe Parish) and Ballymacoy (Fermoy Barony, Monanig Parish).
John Carey employs from 4 to 13 workmen at a time to whom he paid from approx. 1s.1d to approx. 5s.5d per week. Race week, 13th to 18th August.
