Dáta táirgthe 1916 - 1939
Scóp agus InneacharPrinted poster containing, on the left, the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic, and on the right, a proclamation issued on behalf of 'The Republican Government and the Army Council of Oglaigh na h-Eireann (Irish Republican Army)'. This latter proclamation refers to the former, and to the first Dail, but continues 'unfortunately, because men were foolish enough to treat with an armed enemy within their gates, the English won the peace'. It is stated that there is no need to re-declare the republic or re-affirm Irish independence, 'but the hour has come for the supreme effort to make both effective'. Signed for the I.R.A. by Stephen Hayes, Patrick Fleming, Peadar O'Flaherty, George Plunkett, Laurence Grogan and Sean Russell [Chief of Staff].
