Ámbito de contenidoAnnotated scrapbook copy of 'St Colman's Cathedral: An Historical Sketch' by James Coleman with photographs and postcards attached. Published in 1918 by Shandon Printing Works to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the cathedral in September 1868. This volume, one of fifty printed privately, appears to be annotated by the author, containing corrections and additions to the original text. Photographs or postcards inside the book include a religious procession of church leaders including Dr Gilmartin, Archbishop of Tuam at the Double Jubilee celebration of Bishop Browne. Other photographs include an 'aerofilm' aerial photograph of the cathedral and Midleton Street dated 1934, and a tomb or monument at Templerobin cemetery, Ballymore, Great Island. Other enclosures in the volume include a manuscript letter from James Campbell, town clerk, thanking J. Coleman for a copy of the book, and an invoice for the printing of the publication from Shandon Printing Works, for £8. Photographs inside the book date from approximately 1923 to 1934.
