The greatest volume of reports are those to the Public Health Committee, and concern inspections made as part of investigations into the erection of unauthorised structures in the city, approval for alterations to buildings, and the issuing of licences for cinemas and theatres. The reports also concern sanitation matters, especially complaints or improvements required to sewers or other water drainage schemes.
Read in conjunction with minutes of the corresponding committees [ref. CP/CO], the reports form an important source in tracing changes to the management of city planning and public health during the period.
