Scope and ContentPrinted first volume of serials of the weekly Irish Penny Magazine. Contains printed engravings of important historical and contemporary buildings across Ireland, with accompanying descriptive text covering subjects including architecture, history, poetry, and science amongst others.
Contemporary Cork material includes a printed illustration by Samuel West of the 'new court-house' at Washington Street, p.105. The illustration is accompanied by a short history of the city of Cork with a timeline from 650 AD to 1802. A second item relating to Cork is a printed illustration of the new Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Father Mathew Quay, p.153. The accompanying text describes briefly the laying of the foundation stone on 23 Apr 1833 for the church, alongside a more general timeline of Cork history from 833 AD to 1819.
Note, the volume's covers are missing, and pages present are numbered 41 to 344 only. Pages damaged and partially torn out include 73 and 74.
