Scope and ContentTestimonials for William Lee, formerly sub constable (no.27886) , RIC, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, sent to the Queensland Police which was established in 1864. Positive references are given by Resident Magistrate [Neall Browne], Rector Robert Graves, Curate John Scott, Rector Richard Oulton and the County Inspector Commanding. Also covering note from William Lee, 13 Jan 1864 to the Inspector General of Police, Brisbane, offering himself as a candidate for the police force. Note inscribed 'fit.... appointed 20 Jan 1864...'. Lee appears to have emigrated to Australia in 1863 following a year's service with the RIC.
