Scope and ContentWilliam Blathwayt was an English civil servant and politician, who served as Secretary of State to William of Orange from 1692 to 1702. He communicated with the Southwells, the leading political and landowning family of Kinsale at that time, and other Irish contacts. The letters make reference to the upheavals of the war years from 1688-1691.The present William Blathwayt Papers are a selection from the Blathwayt Papers housed at Yale.This reference copy consists of a microfilm copy of items from the Blathwayt papers, which have the Yale reference code OSB MSS 2. At Yale, they are held in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
