Scope and Content1. Photograph of MS. 'The Raparee's Charm or Safety'; a prayer in Latin;
'Jesus Maria.. Deus qui est in Celo Deducat me Pa: Murphy per viam rectam ut Revertar hue calvus er sanus et angelus Domini..."etc.
With explanation given in Irish and English. According to the explanation, the prayer was composed by St.Jerome and given by Pope Leo to Charles the Great, King of France (Charlemagne) and carried by Patrick, son of Edmond, son of Patrick Murphy, a rapparee, as a charm for his protection against evil, and an untimely death or drowning at sea, and victory in all battles.
