Form und InhaltLetter from Tom Barry, 64 St. Patrick's Street, Cork, to Jack McCarthy, NORAID, United States. Concerns a speaking invitation from the recently formed Northern Aid Committee (NORAID), to Barry, possibly for various fundraising events in New York and other cities. Barry regrets that he is unable to undertake public activities for at least 6 months on his doctor's instructions, and notes that he had '...been out 5 weekends in succession delivering orations or unveiling memorials and was then taken ill...'. He would 'very much have liked to help out our chaps who are carrying on as best they can...but alas...I fear I will hardly ever again make a speech at a Commemoration'. He does not think it would be right for him to make any sugestion to the " 'Provisionals' " or any other body, but advises them to '...sit down for a few days and draft a cold realistic plan based on unity and commonsense....Personally, I have partially despaired of any immediate success and all this disunity and splintering. The job to be done is indeed a big one as I said at Kilmichael and elsewhere'. He was sorry that they had not more time together after Derrygallon. Sends his best wishes to McCarthy and the Committee.
