Etendue et contenuSeries of rate collection volumes kept by the Rates Department of Cork Corporation recording payments due of city/municipal rates, from c. 1935 up to 1961; and poor rates from c.1935 up to c.1941 (1929-1941 for the North Ward No. 4). Payments were due from the occupiers and/or owners of property within the Cork City area.
Books are available for center wards (No. 1, No. 2, No. 6), North East Ward (No. 3), North Ward (No.4), South and East Ward (No. 5) and West Ward (No.7) . Area 4A and 5A are also included.
The information recorded in the volumes includes: No. of Rating; Address and Description of Tenement/Property; Name of Owners / Occupiers; Rateable Valuation; Rate for that Year; Arrears; Total Demanded; Arrears paid; Remarks. Some volumes have a page index to streets. Many volumes have a signed copy of the General Warrant to Collect and Levy Rates signed by the Lord Mayor, City Manager, Town Clerk and City Solicitor.
A more detailed adjunct to the Valuation Lists for Cork City. Useful for the tracing the owners or occupiers of property.
