TS. account of Visits of The Crown Forces to Drishane Castle Convent, Millstreet by [Mother Superior] of Convent. Refers to 200 soldiers and Auxiliary Police searching the grounds and questioning work men. The Superior contacted the Army General in Cork. Includes text of letter 23 Jun 1921 to Mother Superior from EH Willis, HQ Kerry Brigade (British Army), Buttevant on foot of information that 'wounded rebels have been given shelter in the Convent', and that women searchers will enter to do a search. With account by Superior of 'raid' which lasted 3 hours, 'the Community and children were individually searched in the large parlour... no material damage was done and it is significant that credit should be claimed for not imitating brigands, but the glory of having subjected religious ladies to the humiliation of a personal search remains with the Crown Forces...'.
