28 May 1946, 'Naas. Death of Jack M. Fitzgerald K.C. in my room at Naas at 3.20pm. After opening a workman's compsn case (deceased workman) in my court before 12 noon - when he sat down he suffered a heart attack collapsing into the arms of his junior P. Bourke B.L., whereupon I adjourned court & had him removed to my room. I watched him fight for his life for 3 hours when he expired. His wife & son & daughter were present'.
