Scope and ContentHand illustrated presentation address to Anderson Cooper on his retirement from post as bank manager on 28 August 1886. Volume formerly part of the library holdings of the Freemasons Hall, Tuckey Street, Cork, referenced 'F6R'. The address is beautifully illustrated with small watercolour paintings and ink drawings including the Provincial Bank building (p 1), St Finbar's Cathedral (p.2), Monkstown Castle (p.3), Belvelly Bridge viewed from Fota towards Belvelly on Great Island (p.4) and an image of a Victorian-era house at Whitepoint, Cobh (p.5), possibly Cooper's residence in the town. The artwork bears resemblance to the work of the artist, picture framer and optician, John Gilbert of Patrick Street Cork, a former employee of Guy & Co. Gilbert was originally from Newcastle, England, (born c.1835) and died in Cork in 1915.
