Scope and ContentDraft letter from Julia Hayes, widow of Sean Hayes, to the Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Parkgate Street, Dublin, applying for a pension owing to 'early demise' of her late husband, who was an employed as a higher executive officer in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs fought in the Easter Rising, was interned at Frongoch and later Wormwood Scrubs where he was on hunger strike which 'lessened his powers of resistance to illness'. He performed 'very arduous duties as Military Governor of Newbridge Internment Camp' from Aug 1922 to March 1924.
