Scope and ContentPrinted publication detailing the history of the Old Church at Murragh, (Parish of Murragh and Templemartin), near Enniskeane. Covers the period from the Norman era (c.1200) to the Old Church's abandonment in 1811 when a new church was consecrated St Patrick's of Farranthomas. The book also details the history of the later church and its building, and the history of the Old Church site after its abandonment.
The volume records surviving gravestone inscriptions from within the Old Church cemetery, with an alphabetical summary by surname (pp.51-53), for graves dating c.1760-1970. Names from grave inscriptions include, for example: Allen, Buttimer, Coghlan, Good, Hallahan, Hurley, Shorten, Walsh and Wren. Small pictorial diagrams depict locations of these burials within the cemetery.
The volume is of interest for family history research and for a history of flood damage from the River Bandon in the Enniskeane area.
