Scope and ContentA new pier and quay wall construction is presented by John Barry, Edmond Barry, and John Sullivan on the road from Rosscarberry to Rossbar [section I, p.3]. This entry includes a breakdown of the costs between the barony, county at large, and private subscription. Significant funds are also awarded for re-building Fermoy bridge over the river Condons and Blackwater on the Fermoy to Mitchelstown road [section I, p.4].
A transcript of a letter sent from WM. Wagstaff of St Patrick's Reformatory School, Upton, dated 8 Jul 1864 requests presentment for funds towards maintenance of boys in the school convicted under the Juvenile Offenders legislation. The letter makes reference to the 'heavy debt' of sending three fourths of these juveniles to 'the Colonies'. [section I, after p.15]. This case is presented again by the manager of Upton school in the Spring Assizes of 1866 [GJ/CO/PR/33 (i)].
