Scope and ContentThe cost of establishing a Lunatic Asylum is detailed with a Lord Commissioners, county and city contribution for the 'Expense of Erecting and Establishing an Asylum for the Reception of the Lunatic Poor' (section I, pp.18-20). This is referred to as the Eglinton Lunatic Asylum. The volume also lists 'Piers and Harbours Transferred from the Commissioners of Public Works to the Grand Jury of the County of Cork', from 1854 onwards. Piers include: Laurence Cove (Bear Island), Coulagh Bay, Cove of Kinsale, World's End (Kinsale), Ballycotton, Courtmacsherry, Glandore, Baltimore, Skull, Cape Clear, and Castletown, Berehaven. (section II, p.105).
