Each number consists of a single sheet, with entries such as notes of baptisms, marriages, and deaths, Parish news, including a note on St Luke’s Parochial Schools (Boys and Girls), a note of offertories, and a service table for the month. The address for correspondence is Rev SHP Harman, 4 Rockview Terrace, Montenotte, Cork.
Church of Ireland New Monthly (United Diocese of Cork Cloyne and Ross)
Present from Jan 1898 (new series, Vol 1, No 1) to Dec 1898.
Church of Ireland Parochial Magazine (United Diocese of Cork, Cloyne, and Ross)
Present from Jan 1899 (new series, Vol 1, No 1) to Dec 1902. These are generally 4pp, and include notes from parishes, including, occasionally, St Luke’s, but do not note baptisms, marriages, and deaths, or regular information for every parish. (Pages for Aug-Sep 1898 include an account of the foundation of the Greencoat Hospital School, Shandon, Cork, by Phillip G Lee).
Church of Ireland New Monthly magazine.
Present from Jan to Dec 1898, containing c20pp of edifying stories, hymns, notes on missionary work, church buildings, personnel, and other general magazine matter.
The Church Monthly
An illustrated magazine for home reading, printed in London, is presently monthly for 1899 to 1902, with title pages preceding the numbers for January of each year. The magazine contains similar general reading to the above title.
All the magazines are bound together, generally with the St Luke's Magazine preceding the diocesan magazine, followed by the general monthly church magazine. The St Luke's and diocesan magazines are more loosely bound, with some coming loose, perhaps suggesting that they may have been added to a bound edition of the church monthly.
The St Luke's magazine sheds light on the Anglican community of a northside Cork city parish, while much information on church life and activities in Cork city and county is contained in the diocesan and general/monthly church magazines.
