Scope and ContentMortgage deed.
Parties: John Anderson of the City of Cork, Merchant, John Tutthill of the City of Limerick, Esquire and George Knapp of the City of Cork, Esquire.
Property: The parties are trustees named in a deed of settlement of 26 Sep 1789, between Strettle Jackson, City of Cork Esquire, and his wife Mary Jackson nee Cousens, and John Tutthill and George Knapp. Property a piece or plot of ground situate at Rock Savage in the South East Quarter of the City of Cork, leased to Richard Barrett brewer, and Michael Morrission, described as a piece or plot of ground containing in front to the new street leading from Morrissons Place (South Terrace), 195ft and in depth from North to South about 85ft, bounding on the North with the new street, on the West with the street leading to Blackrock, on the South partly with the passage leading to the House of Industry and partly with the other ground then in the possession of Michael Morrission, and on the East by a new street intended to be struck out between the demised premises and the lands of Mrs. Ann Sleigh and Richard Longfield Esquire, Cork. Tutthill and Knapp to have full and free liberty of quayage on the first 30 feet of the quay opposite the West side of Arthur Keeffe's lime and salt works situated at Rock Savage, including appurtenances (possibly Morrisons Quay/Father Mathew Quay, see 1789 Daniel Murphy Map of Cork City). Refers to a lease map (missing).
Terms and Conditions: Mortgage for lease of 999 years. John Anderson £2,000 in consideration to John Tutthill and George Knapp. Anderson to repay £2,000 over 4 years to Tutthill and Knapp with interest of £6 per £100.
