Scope and ContentRental and Particulars, sale, on 10-11 Dec 1857, in the Court of the Commissioners for the Sale of Incumbered Estates in Ireland, of estates in the barony of Imokilly, County Cork, comprising 8833 statute acres, in the matter of the estate of William Stanhope Taylor, Mark Anthony Saurin, and Frederick Dowding, Trustees of the will of James, Marquis of Thomond, deceased. The estates include lands to the east of Cork Harbour with four miles of sea frontage, and lands at Knockadoon Head with frontage on the sea and Youghal Harbour 'commanding every variety of Scenery, and occupied by a peaceable and industrious Tenantry'. The lands are divided for sale into 77 lots, described collectively as the Cork Estate, which includes the lordship and manor of Rostellan. Descriptions of lots note names of holdings (denominations), tenants' names, and terms of rents. Maps are included for each lot. Areas, rents, and valuations are also summarised. Carriage of the sale is by Henry McGrath, solicitor, Dublin. Published/Printed by JJ Byrne, Dublin, 1857. Maps and lithographs by EJ Harty, Chromo and General Lithographer, Dublin. Rostellan Castle is depicted on the cover, and there is a colour sketch and ground plan of it inside the cover. There is also a sketch of Barnabrow house. The rental is fragile and torn, and maps and particulars for lots 75-77 are not present [pages from back of rental missing].
