2. 18 Sep 1822 Portion of MS. letter from [unknown], Royal Cork Institution, to Richard Dowden. Concerns Lord Bandon's notes on the subject of the Bandon Institution. The object is a library consisting of belles lettres, science, and agriculture, London and Cork newspapers, and a course of popular lectures annually, etc. Discusses running costs, librarian's salary, etc. (2pp) (See also U140/J/01/01)
3. 9 Mar 1838 MS. letter from [M.], Cork to 'My dear Richard', Richard Dowden, Post Office, Limerick, Mentions Mrs Dowden and Father Mathew, various business matters. (3pp)
4. nd [c.1839] MS. letter from [?C.R.] to 'My dear Friend', [Richard Dowden]. They undertake to foil him at his own weapons '...like a true christian notwithstanding your treachery I sincerely wish that you may be prosperous and happy...' (1p)
5. 29 Jul 1845 MS. letter from [Winepihn], Eastmill Park to Richard Dowden, Mayor of Cork. Regards provision for the widows and orphans of policemen shot an Ballinhassig on 30 June 1845. (Battle of Ballinhassig) (3pp)
6. nd [1840s-60s] MS. letter from [?JBM or JFM], 29 Patricks Hill, Cork to Richard Dowden. Mr. [Vorsher] sent Mr. Barry to say that he would not play on monday next out of respect for us and is ready to give his band gratis. 'F.B.B' should allude to it that a stranger thinks of our Blind - might shame Cork people into becoming [supporters]; etc. (3pp)
7. 23 Sep 1857 MS. letter from 'John', Rathgar Road, Dublin, to 'My dear Cousin', [Richard Dowden]. Refers to purchase of various types of bottles. Refers to staff members including 2 apprentices, 6 women and 10 girls from 11 to 16 years in brush factory. (4pp)
