Acknowledges letter asking for aid for the families of those shot as Ballinhassig (Battle of Ballinhassig). He regrets '...loss of so many lives caused unfortunately...through the lawlessness of the lower orders....as a magistrate and deputy Lieutenant of this county I should be acting improperly....were I to contribute towards a fund...'; etc.
