Ámbito de contenido1. 23 May 1916 MS. copy of letter from Terence MacSwiney, Block A Room, Richmond Barracks, Dublin, to 'Dear Mrs. McDonnell', (Kathleen McDonnell, Castlelack, Bandon, wife of William K. McDonnell, Irish Volunteers). Thanks her for a 'very welcome present'. The prisoners are 'deeply grateful' to all their friends, who are supplying 'a variety of comforts'. His health is good, and the kindness of friends helps to lighten their confinement '...but in the evening, we look to the sunset, we realize that nothing is to be compared with freedom. However in God's good time this too will be restored. Let us hope the discipline of the present enforced restraint will serve to make us all better fitted, for whatever duty, the future has in store...'. He trusts that she has heard from Mr. McDonnell (William McDonnell, her husband), that he is in the best of health, and that they remain in good spirits, ready to enjoy the happiness of re-union.
