Scope and ContentMS. note/account book with survey and valuation of a number of land holdings in East and West Muskerry, carried out by Philip Splaine [surveyor].
Includes entries, for example:
'Valued 24 October 1888, Estate of Anna Perrier, Townland Kealfinchin, Tenant Mortimer Twomey, Area 91 acres, Rent £57-0-0, P.L. (Poor Law) Valuation £40-5-0', 'I Value the Land..', gives list of divisions, number of acres and valuation, 'Estimate fifty pounds one shilling to be present value...the farm has a South aspect. With rough sketch outline of major land divisions and no. of acres for each holding.
Also, observations 'I think £100 got from Board of Works ought to do all the drainage except about 3/4 acre under old Mill....I saw no new fencing except and about 20 perches of Boundary fence...Cattle on land, cows 12.., 8...calves...sheep 5, ..Crops Potatoes 3 acres, Turnips 1.", and such as; 'Estate of Revd. Somers Tagne Valued 30 Oct 1888 Townland Kilgobenet Tenant Danl. Herlihy, Area 105 acres, Rent £88-0-0, P.L. Valuation £55-0-0...', estimate of value of £61-16s, '...the land will feed 17 cows...', observations; stock of 2 horses, 12 cows, 3 grailings, 3 calves and 3 sheep; crops include 3 acres of potatoes and turnips, and 4 acres of oats...the labourers' houses are 'unoccupied and falling down', the cow house 'has been improved as claimed for.'
