Scope and ContentThree copies of 'Poblacht na h-Eireann Southern Edition', anti-treaty republican newspaper. Also present is a 1922 letter, and a covering letter accompanying the collection. The newspaper was printed during the Civil War period, and contains anti-Treaty republican propaganda and accounts of some military engagements and casualties.

SM722/4 Letter, 28 Jul 1922, from [S.M. Inerney] O.C., Óglaigh na h-Éireann, H.Q. 5th Brigade, 1st Western Division, to [Mr. Geary c/o Mastersons], concerning field glasses which are to be requisitioned and must be given to the bearer for the use of the army, 'to be returned on the termination of hostilities';
SM722/5 Letter, 27 May 1975, from Eamon Corcoran, 1 St Brigid's Road, Cork to 'Prof. Murphy' (Professor John A. Murphy), enclosing issues of Poblacht newsheet (items /1 to /3 above). Notes that 30th October was the last edited by Childers [Erskine Childers] in West Cork. Mentions Irish Democrat newspaper (1930's), for which Brendan Behan wrote.
