Scope and ContentMixed photocopies of Cork railway material [compiled by C Creedon]. Relates primarily to the Cork, Bandon and South Coast Railway [1849-1961]. Artificially divided into groupings, the collection includes the following:
(1) Cork, Bandon & South Coast Railway, Working Timetable from Jun 1915. 4pp (A3). Also present is a page [from trade directory] giving timetables for Cork, Bandon and Bantry; Timoleague and Courtmacsherry; and Schull and Skibbereen. Also, there is a page showing a map of the southern half of Ireland, with an inset showing railways around Cork city and Dublin (printed by John Bartholomew & Son Ltd, Edinburgh).
(2) MSS 'The beginning and end of the Bandon Line' by C.Creedon (25pp)
(3) TSS 'Chapter Seven,The Slow Death' concerning demise of the CBSCR. [Creedon (book/author not marked)]
(4) six ts appendixes [to Creedon's book on CBSCR], referring to trains, newspaper reports, notes, and information on Creedon, the Cork Railway Restoration Society, and his other books.
(5) Cork Bandon South Coast Railway data [report from database] regarding trains and wagons, noting class, date, builder, scrapping, and wagon notes.
The Railway Magazine, pp538-542 [issue/date not indicated], article: 'From London to Glengarriff'. Also present is another Railway Magazine page (pp412-13) with photos regarding 'Closed West Cork Lines'
(6) pages 67-68 and 97-98 from an unspecified book concerning the Great Southern Railway.
(7) Pages from publications, relating to CBSCDR. Includes page from article by AJ Chisolm, page regarding Schull & Skibbereen Railway by JIC Boyd of Oakwood Library of Railway History, newspaper article regarding links between CIE and GAA, and notice regarding Clonakilty Railway Centenary (1886-1986) by Clonakilty Local History Society.
(8)-(12) Five bundles of photographs rlating to CBSCR and related lines, from various sources [photocopies on A4, generally poor quality]. Includes (at front) an advertisement for CBSCR excursion to Glengarriff and the Lakes of Killarney
(13)-(14) Copies of sketches of railway lines, termini, and layout, the first containing several drawings by Leslie Hyland (1950) of CBSCR lines, with timetables attached [pages numbered 202-10]; the latter grouping contains unidentified plans of lines and termini.
