U288/1. (13 Dec 1801) Letter from Michael Rogers, Scallaheen to John Courtnay (Courtney), Lota, Cork, concerns a financial problem (3pp).
U288/2 (28 May 1803) Letter from G. S. Bruce, Limerick to John Courtney, Lota, concerns a rent dispute (1p). Note: Items 1 and 2 were used in a court case between John Courtney, Plaintiff and Michael Rogers, Defendant (2 June 1807).
U288/3 (30 Nov 1826) C.Eustace, Dieppe [Dublin], to his sister Mrs. Johnson, Magourney, Macroom, County Cork, concerns his father's will, his mother's interference in his interests and 'rascally lawyers' (4pp).
U288/4 (3 Mar 1833) F. McCarthy [Francis McCarthy, Barrister], Cork to William Maginn, LLD, London. Requests Maginn to procure autographs of 'some of the eminent political and literary men in London' , as he has 'an idea of marrying a young lady here who has about 10-12,000 (pounds)' (2pp).
U288/5 (3 Aug 1843) George Dibbs, Cork, to Mrs. Agnes Dickson Kent, No.78, Union Street Stonehouse, near Plymouth, England. Gives an account of a rough sea voyage from Plymouth to Cove (Cobh) due to a storm (2pp).
U288/6 (3 Mar 1844) George Dibbs, Cork, to Mrs. Agnes Dickson Kent, No.78, Union Street Stonehouse, near Plymouth. Concerns the sum William Cristin White, Patrick's Hill, Cork, bid for purchase of Rushy Meadow, near Blackpool, Cork, and notes that Mr White 'is well inclined to assist you and protect you against any fraudulent attempts that may be made by Captn Weir or any other person'. (1p). With note asking if Mrs. Kent had received his former letters (1p). Also copy of a reply letter from Mrs. Kent, (undated) (2pp).
U288/7. (10 Oct 1853) Robert R [ or K] Scanlan [possibly Robert Richard Scanlan], artist, Cork, to [T]J. Hogarth, Esq. Asks about a winter exhibition in London, for which he has 2 drawings. Refers to a railway accident and also a visit from his friend Brierly "who came into our 'Cove' in the St Jean d'Arc with Capt Pellham...' (3pp).
