Scope and Content1. 19 Sep 1842 Form of admission for the Lunatic Asylum of the County and City of Cork for Edward Eames, signed William Bullen MD. Form notes at South Main Street, situation 'Embarrassed', nearest Kin, 'furious at times', makes violent threats to mother and sister, cause of insanity 'loss in trade', age 42, single. Admission requested to Governor of Asylum as pauper lunatic, signed William White and Francis B. Beamish Justices of the Peace of Cork City. DAMAGED (1p)
2. 24 Feb 1854 Form of Affidavit &c. In cases of Lunatics whose friends are desirous of placing them in the Eglinton Lunatic Asylum. Affidavit by Daniel Driscoll regarding Margaret McCarthy aged 63, native of Drimoleague, resident in Skibbereen Union Workhouse. With physicians or surgeons certificate by Daniel [?Devereax] MD, Skibbereen certifying mania. Withnames of relatives. Signed by John D. Creedon PP Butlersgift Drimoleague.(2pp)
3. 28 March 1854 As above for Catherine Walsh of Scariff, Templemartin, suffering melancholy and disinclination to speak, affidavit signed by father William. (2pp)
4. 14 Sep 1842 MS. certificate by William Beamish regarding Michael McGrath who is 'violently insane', for attention of Governor of the Lunatic Asylum, signed also by Andrew Spearing and James Roche Justices of the Peace. (1p)
