Scope and ContentSM613/1 & 2 Scrapbooks relating to sailing ships. Compiled by Freesia Hoare. Articles and newspaper clippings regarding sailing, sailing ships, ship wrecks, Cork Harbour, international events. Titles of articles include '' Windjammers'', ''The wreck of the Marion'', ''The way of ships and seamen'' and ''Ships of yesterday''. One of the most frequently-recurring writers in SM613/1 is Frank C Bowen [author, Ships for all (London, 1923)]. There are a number of cuttings in SM613/2 regarding the Finnish vessel Herzogin Cecilie, shipwrecked off Devon in 1936. There are more Irish sailing cuttings in this second volume.
SM613/2 'enclosures' includes smaller cuttings, some pictures of vessels including a sketch in pencil, and a postcard addressed to Miss F Hoare. Dated 27 Oct 1936, it is from the Organising Secretary, Irish District, Royal National Life-Boat Institution, thanking her for her help on Life-Boat Day.
