Scope and ContentBroad sheet with satirical comic broadside ballad lyrics headed 'The following verses were composed on the late extraordinary Marriage of a Right Rev. Prelate (Tune, the SILLY OLD MAN)'. The verse begins 'Attend my dear brethren, whilst I do relate / the error that centr'd in my poor grey pate'. There are 32 lines in all, in eight verses. The verse was evidently printed for public distribution or sale. It is undated and no author's name is given. The piece evidently refers to John Butler, Catholic Bishop of Cork, 1763-87. The last line of the third verse refers to 'The withr'd old lips of my one eye'd face' [see Admin History/Biography]
